Legally Published Islamist Weekly -Baran Dergisi- Curses Ataturk, Turkish Republic, Secular Turks : And Hürriyet Sacks Colasan Who reports It





Hurriyet columnist Emin Colasan gave examples in his column of the threats and attacks on Ataturk, and the founding principles of the Turkish republic such as secularism, modernism, western democracy and so on, from the two recent issues of a Jihadist-Islamist Turkish weekly, Baran.

Colasan provided a few excerpts from the magazine where shooting down of an “immoral sex-shop” in Kayseri, of secular Turks, jihad and revenge are glorified in most insulting language.

Emin Colasan calls the attention of the authorities such as Istanbul’s governor, prosecutors, and security units to this Islamist publication - published and sold openly in Istanbul - the name of which he has omitted.

On one of the covers of the magazine Anitkabir (Ataturk’s Mausoleum) is depicted as a grave with a lock, into which corpses of the six arrows that represent Ataturk’s principles (which also is the party emblem of CHP) are being buried. The script above the picture says: “July 22 Memorandum, The People Buried Secularism and Kemalism”

The script on the side says: “80% of the People Hate Kemalists”

The second cover shows the six arrows each one of which has the following: Infidelity [atheism]; Hatred for the People; Prostitution-Homosexualism; Drinking [alcohol]-Robbery; Westernism-Bestiality; Treason.

Above the arrows are those titles: “Secular-Infidels Are in Minority in Turkey!”, “Liberation From Infidelity is Near”

At the bottom left is the statement by Alparslan Aslan, the Islamist who shot six judges - one of them fatally - at the High Administrative Court in Ankara in May 2006: "I wanted to kill [President] Sezer too".
